Default Stainless Question

My buddy said his next muzzleloader will be a stainless one so that he dont have to clean it. Is this true with stainless? He said he will be able to keep it loaded longer also. not have to worry about anything..

Stainless barrels means just that... STAIN LESS. They still rust, and they still need to be cleaned just like a blued barrel. Stainless barrels are more forgiving to the rusting process, but they are not immune from it. I treat all my stainless barrels the same as my blued barrels.

umm, i'd slap your buddy up the side of his head and see if that knocks some sense into him

If hes using blackpowder, blackpowder subs, it DOES need to be cleaned after every use.

If he thinks that he may as well buy 2 and when the one he doesnt clean is ruined he'll have another to shoot.

Tooth enamel is probably just as hard as stainless. No need to worry about brushing either.
