RE: LOAD FOR 45cal

A better bullet would be the Speer Gold Dot at .400 diameter, 180g (there are 100 in a box of these bullets for $22, that is 22 cents each, you can beat that):

Have you fired any of those 200g Berry hollow points? What did you think of them?

They don't look to be a bonded bullet? are the just coated? how well do they hold up?

RE: LOAD FOR 45cal

Cabela's reviewers describe the Berry bullets as heavy plated, very accurate, primarily for plinking or target use. I didn't find many references to hunting use but I would think the hollowpoint would surely be okay. Cabela's actually has a good price on these in 250 packs.

RE: LOAD FOR 45cal

Thats what I thought. Un-bonded bullets will separate from the plating, which will loose energy and slow penatration.Bonded bullets usually will not separate from the jacket. Just because a bullet is cheap does not make it worth using on an animal or humane.Great for plinking, and definately would not use the flat nose for hunting.

I might buy some of those Berry bullets if they were .399 instead of .401. ;)
