First off I would like to welcome you to the forum AND congrats on the new SMOKER
IMO - 100gr loose 2fg 777 and a 250gr TC Shokewave will shoot good for you.
But the proper way would be to get you about 3to4 diff kind of bullets to try and see what your gun likes the best,
Start with 80gr of powder and work your way up to see what the most ACCU charge is out of your gun also
Good bullets to try - Speer Gold Dot 250/300gr - Hornady XTP 240 / 300gr - Barns MZ or TMZ 250 / 290gr
Tc Shockwave 200 / 250 / 300gr - Nosler PG 260gr /
All of these are Proven bullets
BUT DO your self a Favor and stick with LOOSE POWDER

H3 - Welcome to the forum its good to have you here. That sounds like an excellent outfit you have there. Maybe Santa was good to you. The Omega will do it all. I would suggest you shoot 100-120 grains of loose powder such as Pyrodex RS or Triple Se7en 2f powder. Start with 80 grains and work up from there. Bullets I would suggest are the 200, 250, or 300 grain Shockwaves for starters. Some other ones to try are Speer Gold Dots, Nosler Partitionand Hornady XTP's but for sighting in I would START with the Shockwaves and branch out from there. If you want to shoot pellets, then start with 100 grains of pellets (2 of them) and later try three pellets if you want to try.
Put your scope on with Warne QD rings so it is easy to take on and off. Scopes with any magnification are illegal in Wisconsin for Muzzleloader season, sothis will be a great help.I shoot a Nikon 1X20mmm on my rifle during the muzzleloader season and a Nikon 2-7 during the modern rifle season when I use my White Ultra Mag.
Good luck with the rifle. Any questions you might have, just ask.

Congrats, showever got you that Omega for Christmas did you a great service. Follow the advice that has been given by Indiana Smokepole and Cayugad and you'll be happy. I currently shoot the Barnes 245gr Spitfire with either two 50g T7 pellets or 90g loose T7 FFG. I plan to get me some crush rib sabots to try with some Barnes Expanders 250gr and maybe some Speer Gold Dots 250gr, I may also try some bonded 250 shockwaves. The regular 250gr shockwaves shoot great out of my gun.The only thing I would suggest in addition to what has already been said is that if you go with the 250 shockwaves get the bonded ones.

That sounds like a great setup. I like 250gr shockwaves in my Omega, with a somewhat heavy charge of Pyrodex RS (130gr). I'd start at 100gr and work up to 150. Noticing you have a scope, I would expect you to want a powerful, flat shooting load for longer shots, which is why I'd look for a load at 100gr+.

I would have to agree with chaz3815, 130 grains in pellets would be my max. charge. I have found that 150 grains to be in-consistent. 130 grains in Triple 7 or Pyrodex pellets seems to work very well in Omegas! Not saying its the best, but if you do go the pellet route, that would be my charge of choice!!!!!

Crushed rib:

MMP12 High Pressure Sabot (Sabot Loader experiment showed crushed rib lost 200 fps over MMP, so use MMP IF they fit your bore):

Nosler Partion:

I like 300g since they shoot thru deer the 260 do NOT always shoot thru deer and the 300 do, and they have better BC.
Speer Gold Dot:

Barnes Expander MZ:

That should get you started. Forget pellets 90 to 120g of loose 777 is what the gun will shoot well at.
Welcome to the forum. Best Wishes for 2008 and your NEW ML!

i have a atec simmons on mine in 2.8x10x44 so far its been good. before mississippi laws would pemit scopes i used the zero x pentax it was great for shooting paper plates but when i hit the woods the deer that came by at 50 yrds looked like ants i got one but only cause it stood there long enough to let me look over the scope about ten times to make sure thats what i was aiming at, after that i went without untill i got that red dot after i missed a few using that i took it off in the woods and said the heck with all that stuff and went with open sights till the magnacation was allowed. once you get that new gun broke in you will like it, just don't get mad cause its to hard to load, just keep a slege hammer in you pocket to hammer them first few hundred rounds down into the bottom.
