RE: New ML/ one more question

ORIGINAL: little-d

i have a atec simmons on mine in 2.8x10x44 so far its been good. before mississippi laws would pemit scopes i used the zero x pentax it was great for shooting paper plates but when i hit the woods the deer that came by at 50 yrds looked like ants i got one but only cause it stood there long enough to let me look over the scope about ten times to make sure thats what i was aiming at, after that i went without untill i got that red dot after i missed a few using that i took it off in the woods and said the heck with all that stuff and went with open sights till the magnacation was allowed. once you get that new gun broke in you will like it, just don't get mad cause its to hard to load, just keep a slege hammer in you pocket to hammer them first few hundred rounds down into the bottom.
If your GUN LOADS hard your using the WRONG SABOT for your bore size. Buy some MMP HPH12, HPH24 and 3petel EZ and some Harvester Crushed Rib sabots and get the right sabot for your bore.
It should go down tight, but NOT pound it down tight. Loose is dangerous and looses accuracy.

Mine loves 250 gr. SW and 110 gr. 777 ffg. Shoots under an inch at 100 yds. I have the same set up as you. This load will drop 221/2 inches at 250 when zeroed at 100.

RE: New ML/ one more question

Being in Wisconsin, if he wants to hunt the modern season and not spend a lot of money.. a Bushnell Banner Dusk to Dawn 3-9x40mm would be a good scope. A Nikon Pro Staff is better. They range $149.00. For the muzzleloader season, a Nikon !x20mm or a T/C 1x32mm are around $150-$180.00. Traditions sells a 1X32mm for $50.00 but I have no experience with it. When I get the new mount for my rifle, I am going to get one just to see if I can shoot and shake it apart...

H3, welcome to the frontstuffers!:D
There is alot of knowledge here from alot of guys that have been doing this for YEARS. Not me, I'm still a newbie. Only been at the ML thing for about a year.
Cayugad, Lemoyne, Sabotloader, Frontier Gander, Chap Gleason, to name just a few, have forgotten more about black powder shooting and hunting than I know. Don't hesitate to ask anything. Chances are, someone here has had the same problem or situation. The knowledge is here for the taking.

I just bought a Bushnell "sharpshooter" ML pkg from WW. All the ML stuff is on clearance so it was only $35. Scope, mounts and rings.
It's a 3x9x32. We'll see how it does in a couple of days at the range.
It went on my KRB7, but the mounts have a bunch of different ways to set up and it says it will fit CVA, Knight, Traditions and TC.
