bad shoulder strike!!!!!

little background story.
About 5 years ago, I just started working as a package handler at fed ex ground. felt something pop in my right shoulder. since then I have problems.
yesterday I came home from the range about 4:45 pm est. Looked in one of them feilds I hunt. the group of 6 deer I saw during centerfire where there (the only large group I have seen in the area). grabbed my ML out of the truck, still had some loads left from the range session. I did think twice about it. walked down to one of the spots I set. lined up a shot. had a pile of time. took the safety off, the most smooth I have every free handed a rifle. I was not shaking, very little buck fever. MUSCLE SPAZUME, making me shot the bank right infront of me. the deer ran off, but came back with the whole family. and being playful on top of it.
break down, pritty much the whole day at the range, making my shoulder a little sore, mainly by contect with the stock and repeated motions.
I am bound to get a deer out of that group. shot sticks and time is on my side, I know one of there cut thru areas
I gotta get this shoulder checked bad.

If you had a pile of time you should have found yourself a rest of some sort. Outcome would likely have been different. I NEVER shoot offhand if I can rest my forward hand on or against something.

You sure seem to have your problems.. perhaps bowling might be a better sport?

Just kidding. Hang in there and perhaps you will get another chance. Carry a walking stick if nothing else. Even a walking stick will help you shoot better then off hand.

I've learned the hard way over the years too. Being a lefty and shooting a flinter it takes an extremely concious effort to stay on target when that flash goes off in front of you nose. I've missed a lot of deer by not using a rest of some sort. Now, as a minimum I shoot from the kneeling position. But always try to use some sort of rest - tree, rock, anything. The way I hunt, a lot of walking makes carrying shooting sticks cumbersome. The ML is heavy enough. Maybe those sling sticks would work. hmmmmm

Sounds like you many have a torn tendon that heals and than is reinjured. It also could be a torn rotator cuf which can go on for years and be very a agrivating injury. Hope you can get some relief soon and you can enjoy your shooting experience better

I heading out tomarrow after work. I have a post, I THOUGHT was capped until I took a second look at it[:@].
sadly I am a better shot left handed. but have not done any for a long time. looks like I am going to do alot of shooting this summer with my 22 and sks lefty
.
as for the deer, I know where they are, know where fresh water is, food, and where they're movements are. pile of scouting on this group of deer, and a season that does not ends till jan 5.
I am trying to have positive out look
