Default What do you think

Greetings all. I was hoping to get some feedback on a project I am thinking of starting.

There was a thread a short time ago about homemade patches. Some posters described how they make their patches in strips.

The impression I got was that these were fairly long strips, that were rolled up. When needed, a short amount was unrolled and then cut with a knife.

I am interested in doing something like this but it seems like the lube would create an awful mess.

So I came up with an idea and was hoping for some feedback on it.

I do a bit of leatherwork in my spare time.

I had an idea for a leather container of sorts that the rolled strip would go in to. A slit would be cut in the side so that the material could be pulled out as needed. But your hands/shooting bag, etc., would be protected from getting lube all over them.

Imagine a 35mm film canister with the film tab sticking out-it would look something like that.

Theopening of the container would be covered with a cap that was held in place with a small leather strap and a snap.

Anyway I was wondering what people thought of this. Not to be a spammer, but does it sound like something you would consider adding to your shooting gear if something like this were to show up on <cough>ebay<cough>

Comments appreciated,
~Robert

Well what ever people use is their business.

I personally find it just as easy to carry a couple strips of cloth. These strips are three feet long and two inches wide. I have them pre lubed when I hunt. I simple soak them in moosemilk, squeeze the lube out with my hands, and lay them on an old window screen. The liquid lube dries out, but the oil from the lube stays in the cloth. All I have to do is fold that up and put it in a zip lock bag. I can pull the whole strip, lay an end over the muzzle, short start a ball into it, cut the strip away with a knife, and simply put the strip back into the zip lock baggie.

So I guess I would have no interest in your invention.

Cayugad: OK, I was wondering how people kept the lube off of themselves and their gear.

I guess a baggie would work just as well.
