Default BP rifle shipping restrictions

How does one find out if a BP rifle can be shipped to you? Cabela's and Bass Pro's web site don't mention Tennessee as being a restricted state, but Sportsman's Guide says it cannot ship to Tennessee. I found another web site that says it's because there are some restrictions or some type of document exchange required. Merchants say to "check your local regulations", but where in the world would one go to find them out?

Didn't find anything useful searching the TN state web site. Nor did the first few pages of a Google search turn up much.

I looked up Tennessee on this sight and find no restrictions. Perhaps a telephone call to your local post office head quarters, or police departmentmight give you some better information... Also call you local UPS and ask them if it is legal since most of the on line dealers will ship through them anyway.

While it is legal to ship to Wisconsin, I have ran into people working in Post Offices that do not know the difference between a firearm and a antique firearm. They simply refuse to ship. Even when you tell them the statute where it is allowed.

Thereis some kind of sales tax implications with stores that have brick and mortar locations within a state that sell on the internet. There is a Bass Pro in Nashville so there may be a tax reason for the restriction. I'm not sure if there is a Cabelas in TN but if so it may also be in the same boat.

This might explain it. There is no Cabela's in TN but there are Bass Pros.

I must have read it wrong. I thought he said it was Sportsman's Guide that wouldn't ship to Tennessee.

No, you are right. It is Sportsman's Guide that says it can't ship to Tennessee and I don't think it's a sales tax issue as Bass Pro will ship to Tennessee, at least according to the web site info I found.

It would be interesting to give Sportsman's Guide a phone call on their 800 number and ask them why... It's their dime. And if they want to sell something they must know why they can not ship to that State...

I missed that about it being Sportsmans Guide, sorry for any confusion it may have caused.

TN has no restrictions on shipping muzzleloaders that I'm aware of. I ordered my KRB online and it was shipped from Pennsylvania with no issues.
