A while back I bought a pack of MMP Orange sabots to try with some .458 300 grain Remington semi-jacketed hollow points. They shot OK, but I stopped fooling with them.
Anyway, I had two of the orange sabots left in my range box. So, just for kicks I shotthem with some.458 405 grain bullets that I had cast (poorly) about ten years ago from wheel weights with a Lee aluminum mold. The bullets were still coated with Lee Liquid Alox that I applied when I cast them.
Here's the target with those two shots -and the bullets. DANG!

I bought some orange sabots to try to figure out a way to use up a few of my coffee cans full of 350 gr .458 cast bullets a friend gave me. Didn't shoot too well out of my inlines, but my 1:48 NewEnglander loves them!
Looks like MMP better gear up and run off a few more orange sabots!

I cast the 405 grain pill from a Lyman mold. I cast it from 100% WW. I also shoot it alot for practice rounds with the orange sabots as well. The problem is I use up too many of them in my Sharp's, but I do use BP in the 45-70 case. Tom.

If they are that accurate in your rifle, I would give them a try. the Noslers are $1 each, but these would be dirt cheap.
