There was a guy having problems with his cva optima and he was shooting pellets. As soon as he switched the loose powder, his flyers and groups shrunk.

Pellets are easy to use but not always the best when you're trying to get the best accuracy.
I believe he's now shooting 1.75" 3 shot groups @ 100 yards now.

Default Cva wolf

I shoot a cva wolf also. Best load so far is 95 grains of loose pyrodex rs with a tc shockwave 250 grain sabot. This load holds a 1" group at 100 yards provided I run a bore butter patch between loads. Also I don't have fouling of primer or back of breech plug with this load.

Man, how far do the newbies dig into the archives for their very first posts? 8 years back??

The newbies are interested in basic shooting and loads, not how to design bullets, shoot between 200 and 400 yards, cultivate/construct breechplugs, bedding / free-floating, control fracturing, exterior coatings, scientific findings on bullet deployments, weight measurements, yawing,....etc.....etc.

I was gone from here for several years and the changes in the topic discussions from back-then till now is dramatic. What the newbie posted today was a typical discussion / post 7-8 years ago. I do realize the number of muzzleloader sportsmen has steadily declined in the past 7-8 years. That's probably the main reason the more heavily-used muzzleloader board visitors cater to the technical field of this business during the present times.

Heck, I can recall coming here and spending a half-day here discussing differences with moosemilk and bore butter.
