Default shot an elk today

Figured that title would make you look. Actually did shoot a spike bull today, but not with a ML and not while I was hunting. Poor thing got hit by a car and I was sent to insure it didn't get into the road again and cause another accident. one round from a .40 s&w did the job. Not the way I wanted to get an Elk this year, bummed me out. Our season starts saturday and it is going to be a wet one. But the woods will be quiet. Happy hunting to you all.

don't get to touch it, state law. I had radio call the state game dept. to notify them. It was missing when I drove by it later. State probably picked it up and took it to one of the local wolf havens.

What a bummer! I think I might have had to sneak a backstrap off of that sucker.

I was tempted to do that, zip it open down the spine, but my kids like to eat and I need my job. the car that hit it didn't have much damage, it left the scene before I got there.

Hey sr, good luck in the upcoming season.

When is the new Cabelas opening in Lacey?

In 2005, my nephew killed the highest scoring non-typical Roosevelt ever shot in Oregon. He shot it with a bow and it even topped the rifle record. It was 381 4/8 non-typical. Was also#5 typical in archery at 346 4/8.

These scores can be found on this site. Look in the "Top 10's" section.

Cabelas is going to do a full animal mount using these horns and it will be on display in the Lacey store.
