I decided to call Hornady this AM as my order from 8/21 hasn't arrived. Turns outI won't be getting the 44cal 300 XTP's anytime soon as they are still on back order. I've poked around andhaven't located them elsewhere yet. 
I was kind of counting on them for range work this weekend.
As to the mystery bullet, "Tom" said they discontinued this bullet about 10 years ago and no longer make an exposed lead JHP. Maybe I'll keepthe few of these I have left to try one on a whitetail this Fall.
