My Encore has a crack in the stock!!!
#1
I went to the rangeon Friday to continue sighting in my Encore and as I was loading for the forth shot and I rolled the rifle over to load the primer I noticed a crack [&o]about 1 1/4 inch long running from behind the hammer towards the back of the stock. This is a laminated stock and I thought they were supposed to be much stronger that natural wood, I have only shot <70 rounds through her and this is very disturbing. I called T/C and they said get it in the mail and they would ship the replacement stock ASAP. I did inform them I have an Elk hunt in the 1st week of Oct and they said not to worry it would be back well before then...I sure hope so. I'll let everyone know how this progresses...

I take it the crack is in a glue joint or one lamination?
I've turned a few game calls out of laminated blanks and the % that break is suprisingly high. It seems like either a weak piece of wood, or a "dry" glue joint is fairly common. In most cases on a stock they don't show up because there is little strain on the joint under normal use.

Well I am sure T/C will take care of it. Glad that it happened now and you noticed it, rather then up in the mountains chasing a large elk when you suddenly discover your stock is broke. I guess that is what a back up rifle is for.

I do have a Hawken as a back up and that would be a nice fall back gun, but hopefully they will get it back quickly. In worst case I can always go and pick up a new stock at Sportsmans Warehouse, Cabelas or Bass Pro so I'll wait and see how long it takes. The crack appeared to be in a glue area and was only visable when it was mounted on the frame.

AZ BEAR, I recently had some work done on my Encore from T/C. They were great, and everything was taken care of through warranty. Their C/S has a lady named Danielle, she is on the ball and will keep you posted as to the status of your encore. She even e-mailed me the tracking numbers whenT/C returned my encore. Although their C/S website states that you have to pay the shipping, that is only to get it there. T/C will pay the return cost. Good Luck, Keep ur Powder Dry!!

Well guysI mailed my butt stockon Saturday and checked with the PO online for my Delivery Confirmation receipt and T/C received it at 6:18 this morning. I will check with them tomorrow to see what is going on and get a feel for how long it will take to get the replacement stock. Will update as soon as I get information...

Well I have a FedEx tracking number and the stock should be to me by Sept 5th they say. They have been very responsive so far and if the correct part shows up then I will be very pleased. Five days and counting...
