Default Knight Disk Extreme?

I just put a used Knight Disk Extreme on layaway at the gunshop. I paid 179 dollars for it and I didnt see any acessories with it. I know Ill need to get some of the red plastic disk for it. Will I need to get a special tool to remove the breecch plug. I know some of you fellows have one, what loads do you use I was thinking of loose triple 7 and TC shockwaves?? I ve owned an Cva Optima befor, but never a knight. The Optima was a break open, the knight has bolt assemble, will this knight be hard to clean? Do u think I got a good deal? It does have a solid wood stock, I couldnt resist it

1st you need to read the manual. It'll tell you much of what you need to know. Though you need to know exactly which version you have.

If you look at the picture below you can see the differences between the styles of Extremes. I assume at the price you paid that you got it used. There are 3 styles. The first was the old c-tool bolt and screw release (6). Then they came out with a c-toolless bolt. The first versions with the non c-tool bolt had screw releases. Then they came out with the quick release and those versions had the c-toolless bolt (5). I don't have one of the middle versions to show you.

When I started with the picture I decided to include a lot of extras since a lot of folks tend to ask what they need. I figured it'd save time later. You can ignore anything you already know.

1. Breechplug tools. I use a ratchet with a #11 socket. Right next to it is the standard tool.

2. C-tool

3. Bolts. The one on the left is c-toolless. The one on the right requires a c-tool. A closer picture. See how the finger on the right hand one goes to the threads? The one on the left doesn't. That's how you tell them apart.

4. Full plastic Jackets.

5. Quick release (newest style Extremes)

6. Screw style. It requres an 5/16 allen wrench.

7. Some pill bottles. I take 3 hunting. 1 for the primers (unopened one), 1 for dry patches, and one for wet patches. I swab my barrel before reloading.

8. Rusty Duck Black Off. The solventI use.

9. Jar of premoistened patches. Some are bought patches, some I cut from old t-shirts. The little jar is helpful at the range.

10. Short starters. The one with the wooden Knob is a CVA starter. I like the tips from it but use the T-handle style.

11.A couple Jags. The one on top is the standard Knight one.

12. A tube of threadlocker and breechplug grease. Both very helpful items. I put breechplug grease under scope bases and sights to prevent rust and the threadlocker to keep the screws snug. I actually had rust under a rear sight once. Since using grease it's not happened again.

13. Standard Winchester primers. Skip the reduced power versions. You'll misfire a lot with them in a Knight.

14. The Vials I keep my powder in. I think they come from E&K Scientific. Underclocked can tell you about them as he's the one that goet that started ages ago.

15. A speed loader for in the field. I like the ones that keep powder and bullet seperate.

16. A ramrod using one of the aforementioned tips from a CVA starter.

17. A powerrod. Sadly this version is no longer made IIRC. T/C bought the patent from the XS Sights and had a universal version that isn't as good IMO. Unless you have an Omega or Encore which uses a solid ramrod you have to put up with the hollow one or find an older one.

18. Hearing protection. I couldn't find my safety glasses.

I see I forgot to number the allen wrench. it's a 5/16 ths.

Ok Wolfhound just a couple of questions. First of all thanks for the very detailed answer. If I have the older type of bolt can I get a newer one from Knight? I am asuming you have to take the bolt apart for cleaning. What loads does your have luck with?? Where could I get a manual?? I am gonna try and get my rifle this coming weekend and Ill post some pictures. Tanks

Contact them about the manual. As to the bolt, I'm pretty sure you can. IIRC a while back they would swap them but I don't recall how much it cost. If you contact them they can say for sure. The bolts are interchangeable. I actually prefer the older c-tool version, but I like the newer quick release.

90 gr Pyrodex RS 260 gr Knight jacketed bullet
100 gr Pyrodex RS 250 gr Barnes MZ
100 Gr. Pyrodex 245 Gr. Powerbelt
100 grPyrodex Pellets250 gr Barnes MZ
100 gr FFG777 250 gr. Barnes MZ
100 gr. FFG777 260 gr Winchester Platinum Tip

100 gr. FFG777 250 Gr. Shockwave
70 Gr FFG777 444 Gr Pure lead Powerbelt

70 Gr FFG 777 405 Powerbelt
70 Gr. FFG777 295 Gr Powerbelt

90 Gr FFG 777 250 Barnes MZ
150 gr.777 Pellets Barnes MZ
100 gr. FFG 777 250 XTP in HPH 12

Here's a few loads that have shot well in mine. I don't recomend the 3 pellet loads. They kick like a mule, but I wanted penetration on a hog. The underlined loads are ones I took game with. The 100 gr. FFG 777 with Platinum tip I took the most with some 7 animals IIRC since 2003. The Platinum tip and Barnes 250 MZ have taken all the game with this rifle, some 11 animals from deer to coyote to hog.

They're Warne rings and bases. The bases here are different than the ones I have but they're pretty close. T/C used to sell bases for Knights and that's what I have. They're a bit higher than the standard Warne bases.

Bases:

It's under Knight LK-93

1" Medium rings.
