My renegade flinter 54 cal shoots a stiff load
95 grains of goex 3F hornady RB 230 grain on a good day from the bench can put 3 shots all touching at the 100 yd target.
I think the 54 may have a distance edge over the big 58 cal.but up close the 58 has to pack a hard hitting ball.

Lonewolf5348, Beautiful looking renegade FL. 3 shots touching at 100 yards with open sights is excellent, I wish I could do that at 50 yards with my TC Hawken 50 cal. I am shooting sabots in it though.

RE: What should I do???

Lonewolf.. whether its a great photograph (which it is) or what, but that has to be one of the best looking Renegades I have seen. I sure like that model rifle as you are aware, but I do not own one in a flintlock. If I got my hands on a lock in flintlock style, would that fit in one of my percussion style rifle stocks? If it did, then I could get a .54 GMB flintlock barrel and have one of them. There are some after market locks out there if they would fit.

Cayugad, I think you can just get a TC flint lock and it will fit right on. Do you own a TC Hawken flinter? If so put that lock on the Renegade. It should work.

RE: What should I do???

Dave: I have swap locks (flint) on many of my side locks,I can truly say the early t/c locks (Flint) from the 70's are a tad bit larger then the newer ones.
I also seen some fitting is required on stocks that came from the factory as percussion.
I love the PA HUNTER STOCK I now have 2 of them one is the newer 45 cal. flinter and the other was a early hawkens flinter also.
That renegade you are looking at I must have it now around 4 years was real lucky to buy it from a guy that never completed it and was sitting in a basement for some 30 plus years.I did all the wood and metal work on it and used LMF to turn the parts brown

Now don't buy that one, I have been watching it and it ends in 13 hours. I have a TC Hawken FLbut i like the more simple beauty of the RenegadeI want to buy the stock and get a GM Barrell.

I will bet that auction on the stock and lock will go for about $175.00 or more .

RE: What should I do???

I wonder if this lock would work to put on my Renegade?

RE: What should I do???

I would think so: all is needed is to return the hammer to t/c for the new style and add a lyman frizzen
