yup thats a lot better. Enjoy the rifle and make sure you test out more bullets/caps/powders.

Using winchester primers?

No, I'm using Remington Clean Bores, They seem to work fine. I got a couple of cans of Pyrodex loose Rs to try out. I'm about 1.5 hours away from my in laws. I joined the sportsman club down there. We're headed down for Easter this weekend so I'll be packin my CVA along again and try some loose powder. It's been fun being my first ML and never having shot one before. Didn't know a thing about them until I joined this site, everyones been a great help getting me going. I'll get dialed in before deer season. I plan on getting a Nikon 2x7x32 and changing my scope out. I bought one already and liked it so much I put it on my1187 slug gun. We can start applying for deer permits on line starting at 8am in the morning here in Illinois. Thanks for you ecouragement.

sjsfire:
I've been away from this forum for a while, so I don't know how much info you have received up to this point - so if this is redundant, just ignore it.
I had a CVA Beartooth, which looks for all the world like your Wolf, and found that I got very good accuracy withthe .452 cal 250 gr bullets inside the 3-petal (black) sabot from MMP (I think it's called e-z load or something like that). Most everything else except Powerbelts loaded way too hard, and I bought a lot of bullets and sabots to figure out whatwould work. One big advantage of the bullet/sabot combo over PB's is price - big difference!
Since you are going to be burning a lot of powder, you might try these with about 90 gr of loose or two pellets.

Good Luck

Prediction. Once you hunt 1 year with a ML (and you already demonstrated your being diligent in sighting it in and finding proper load), you won't hunt with a slug gun any longer. ML are more accurate, more fun, shoot further and offer more challenge (single shot)than a slug gun. I hunt with one in NY during shotgun season. Chap Gleason

Sjsfire, Next time you're at the store, pick up a box of CCI shotgun shell 209 primers, Ive found that they give me better groups and only leave a light dusting of fouling VS the oiling crud the kleanbores leave. Even the federal 209's gave me better groups and less fouling. They are dirtier than the cci's but only a tad bit.

I bought a Wolf before last season, and it has paid off for me with a full freezer. It's been 12 years since I hunted deer w/ a gun prior to this. Brought the fun back for me....

Anyway, I can't get PB's to shoot for me, Maybe I need to try different weights, I shot a LOT of 245's, and couldn't buy a group w/ 100 g Pyro pellets. Started w/ sabots, and went back to the XTP's MUCH Beeter for me...

Here is the 1st 4 shots ever out of the gun w, sabots, at 25 yards.... and I KNOW I flinched on the 1st one...

And thats what I'velearned on this forum, two identical guns, same bullets, same powder load, same primers will shoot different. Like they have a mind of their own. I getting decent groups with the 245PB's and 100gr Pyrodex pellets. That picture in my post of the group to the right is a three shot group at 50 yards.
