The Jim Shockey Promo pack is all that is on sale, and it looks like all you are really buying is the bullets.

You already know I am a diehard Nosler fan, but they are pretty much out of my price range now... but if I were in the buying mood I would go here and buy seconds...

Sabotloader -

At $14.95/100 FOR THE .429 300's they seem like a pretty good deal. Hornady wants $16+/50 of their .430 300's. What would you buy in a 300 44 bullet to save $$?

I have never really shot a lot of 44 cal bullets from a 50 cal. When I started shooting I started using 44's because of the better BC, but at that time I did not know the sabots were not rated for high pressure loads and because of that I would get a flyer every once in awhile - so I switched to 45's

I am assuming those Nosler you priced are not "Partitions" if they are "partitions" jump all over them - the new green sabots will handle the high pressure loads... If they are regular Nosler Spoting Hand Gun, that is really a decent price also for a 100..

Those are handgun, from the link you posted. What do you consider a "high pressure" load?

I guess I would say 100 grains + of Triple Seven and above... So that might relate to 110/115 of Pyro...

alleyooper - shoots a lot of 44's and aparently he is very happy with them...

I bought my first box of Nosler Partition HG for $9.95 in Westfield Pa, about 3.5 years ago. My next box was like 16.99 from Cabelas. Then 26.99 then 35.99 then 42.99 and now they are 49.99 at cabelas. I am now an X fan also. I have heard that a lot of lead is going to Iraq, but this is crazy, since rifle bullets have not gone up 5x in the last 3.5 years.
If they were making a profit 3.5 years ago at the 10 dollar price point, they must be making a lot now. But their customer base is leaving them.

I've shoot a lot of 44 cal bullets mostly because that is what the reloading dept stocks for those 44mag shooters. 45cal stuff was a bit harder to buy till the catskul got popular here.
Trying to remember when I first started shooting Nosler BT bullets but was in the 1990's some time. I believe it was 97 that the price doubled for them. Last time I looked at then it was $48.00 for a 50 package of 240gr, 45cal, partitions. Speer gold dots 240gr 44cal which I did buy were $18.49 a 100.
Not many noslers stocked at my favorite reloading store any more since the ones there did have a nice layer of dust on them.

I also don't have a problem with Hornaday XTP's and are also a lot less pricy.

I guess if you own a Hummer to drive around town to impress people you also use Nosler bullets to impress people at those prices.

I am using XTP Mag 300g and Gold Dot 300g also (if your on this forum you tend to follow what other report). I don't think people buy bullets to impress other people, they just buy what their are use to buying cause most folks are "not into shooting", like some of the ML regulars on this forum. I must confess, up till about 3 years ago, I sighted my ML and my rifle in in September after it got cooler and shot it in November and December, put it away and that was it. Now I like to shoot at least 1 time/mo for at least 10 or 20 rounds. Just bought 2 lbs of Goex 3f yesterday and that went from $9.95 last time I bought it to $18.95 a can at Clarke Brothers in Warrenton Va, that can lasted me 3 years with my FL. I like shooting the flinter, I try to shoot light loads and it is just fun. I wish I could group as well as some of what I see on here at 50 yards with the flinter or 100 yards with the scoped rifles.
