Well I just picked up a T/C New Englander in absolute mint condition, I am going to shoot roundball and was wondering when hunting, how do you carry your lubed patches and powder and RB to get a fast reload. Not that a fast reload is always needed. Thanks.

i use ball blocks. get a drill bit to match the caliber and drill holes in a block. center the patches over the hole and push a ball into the hole. works very well. i also carry premeasured charges in rubber tubes. pull the cap off, dump the charge and grab the block and send it down the bore..prime and fire..i read somewhere that you cant safely load and fire a flintlock in under a minute...i dont remember where i read that but i betcha im well under a minute without fumbling or rushing. heck give me a full minute and ill swab the bore and whipe off the flint and frizzen face!
i dont know too many guys that carry ball blocks...but i love them..

The fastest way to load roundball is off a loading block. You make a loading block and then it is a matter of dumping a speed charge, setting the block over the muzzle and with the short starter, driving off the block.
Using hardwood like oak or maple, in any design and number you like, drill 1/2 inch holes. You then lay the patch over the hole and push the roundball against the patch into the block. After you dump the powder, lay the block over the muzzle and drive the ball through the loading block.
I personally carry an oiled patch strip of cloth, and some ball. After I dump the powder, I set the ball just like I would do on the target range. Speed really means very little to me.
