Cayugad,
I scoped my mountain rifle primarily for the light gathering qualities. It's only been recently that I started this quest to extend range. So far, the only bullet I've found this gun really likes are the Sabertooth. I'm pretty certain I'll be delivering 6/6 on 6" circle at 100 yds. soon with the 270gr. and 90 RS. See my post from a few minutes ago about my lack of success experimenting today.

not enough some would say.. not counting my old parts rifles, and counting black powder handguns, there would only be 26 of them. Of course I gave two of them away this Christmas to nephews, but they are gone, so we do not count them. I think the most I ever had in muzzleloaders was thirty of them. Oh ya, I sold a couple barrels but they are not counted anyway.
So my answer is more then twenty...

Cayugad, I bought the Plains rifle because my eyes had went south real fast and I didn't feel conident with the Hawkins with leaf & blade sights.
From the start the plan was to put a scope on the plains rifle which was drilled and taped from T/C. I started useing sabots because that is all my friends were useing as well as my hunting partner. My shots with it has been useing 80gr. Gorex 240gr Nosler & Hornaday HP XTP in green MMP Sabots. I've since found that T7 at 80gr. works too.I had tried the pink T/C breakaways which worked but the assembly didn't suit me. I have always limited my shots to 75yards or less as I was still working 12-7s so didn't have a bunch of range time. Also most places I hunt other than the beach, ranges won't be much more than 50 yards anyway. Even with my inlines today I limit my shots to 100 yards and they are what I take to the beach when I hunt there during ML season. OH and the groups are every bit as good as I get with my inlines.

The shooting bench was just completed in the picture. I left the wrap on the table legs so stain didn't get on them when I covered the OSB with the stain. Yup stain I buy at HD on the OOPs rack for $5.00 a gallon or $15.00 for 5 gallons. I've been useing about 25 gallons a year so far.
You can get fixed power scopes for much less than variables even NEW.

When you sell your house does all this convey? Nice setup in everything--guns, bullets, powders, work area, coffee pot and range. We all wanna "get there", now if I could get my wife to move back into the country instead of town!

Winchester x-150,.50, ss barrel, truglow sights
traditions kentucky classic .50 flintlock, Redid the stock and barrel but still have to add my brass buttons to the stock. My 2 powder horns, my crappy possibles bag and my clay pipe. below the kentucky is the simple belt bag i made for my flint and steel set up. The only plans for the kentucky is to buy grade A curley maple and chisle out a new stock for rendezvous time.
