It is a site devoted to White Rifle owners. All people are welcome of course, but the White rifle, their use, projectiles, etc are a center of attention ... that is when anyone over there pays attention..

I was watching my roger raglin movie again and its confirmed, he was using 200 grains pyrodex rs and a 750 grain bullet when he shot this one cape buffalo. Im sorry but that load, Would drop me on the ground, screaming and crying in pain lol. I think that load would easily knock my shoulder out of the socket.

That would make a heck of a load. I think a load like that, you better not have a scope on the rifle. That would be a shoulder breaker. Cape buffalo are tuff and dangerous from all I have seen and heard, but would a load like that really be necessary? I would think distance to target would be the big factor. I never hunted anything like that, but I would think within 100 yards and 120 grains of Pyrodex P and a good conical would do the same thing. Or at least hope so...

His first shot was with his white inline and the bull started running away, he grabbed his SIDELOCK with the same load and the second shot dropped it. If i were there and hunting, i'd be damn sure i was perched up in a tree high off the ground
. They were also skinning a cape buffalo out and showed the hide and it was 1/2" thick! Those things are nothing but pure muscle under the hide. As for the guide, he had a bolt action rifle for backup. I dunno about you, but i'd have the biggest caliber rifle with a 30 round clip and semi auto if someone put me in his shoes.

I wonder about the recoil. When I was building Hawken rifles I used to proof test them with 240 gr of FF Goex and 2 patched balls loaded one on top the other very tight; Of course I did not fire from the shoulder , I had a gun vise bolted to an old tire inside a cement block barricade. I pulled the long string from behind a building too you never know when their might be a flaw in the barrel. Lee
