70 up to 120 grains of powder should be OK with a 300-grain bullet. Just test loads from 70 up to 120 to see what powder level shootz the best in your gun!

well...it all depends. are u using powder nuggets or powder, if powder i would step it up to 125, nuggets i would see what your gun could handle. 300 grain bullets are kinda heavy. and i use 100 grain triple7 pellets with a 245 grain powerbelt bullet

Yes, that is an excellent hunting load. If I could place my shot I would not even worry about shooting out to 125 yards with a load like that. Maybe even further if it was real accuate.

Too many people worry about velocity. Remember, the projectile is already almost 1/2 inch in diameter. Add to that some expansion on impact. That is more then some of the .30 caliber high velocity rifle bullets even expand, although like anything there are exceptions. While that 300 grain projectile will be moving at approxinatly 1521+/- fps (taken from Hodgon's manual for 300 gr XTP and 90 gr Pyrodex), there is a lot of energy there. The bullet should get excellent expansion and penetration.

I shoot conicals with 70 grains of powder, and they might be moving 1300+ fps. I have never worried about being under gunned when deer hunting.

I just shot my Omega with 100 grains Pyrodex and 300 grain bullets. I think 100 is perfect but 90 is alright for practice. That load would be adequate for deer out to 100 yardsif you wanted though. I use 110-120grains Pyrodexfor deer whether I'm using 300 grain or 240 grain bullets.

My favorite load for my Omega is 100 grains Pyrodex and 300 grain XTP's. You should try it. It's just about the perfect load for it. I have mine about an inch high at 50 and it's dead on at 100. Let us know your perfect load. I like the XTP's so much that I only buy them now. My gun patterns better with 300's as far as I can tell.
