RE: Knight looking to climb back in the ring!

I read quite a few articles back many years ago when Tony knight came out w/ his proto types. I always thought his designs were the best till he came out w/ the disc. I personally think the rifles are great but that disc will make a rifle obsolete.
Does that new rifle use the disc?
Wolfhound76 has brought up some very valid points. I had leakage around the breech block on my brand new Omega. I traded out the barrel for an older fluted barrel from a local gun shop. They didn't care less. Both great shooters but my old Omega didn't leak around that little ring groove @ the back of the barrel. New for 2006. See the pic!

I do like the TC Omega and the Triumph design because the barrel breech is exposed for cleaning. Never used the Encore.

It is a muzzleloader not a cartridge gun besides that you also get some blow back on them. Man alive I have can't believe what people complain about any more.

A muzzleloader gets dirty when you shoot it? I'm shocked I tell ya.

I have to add that blow back has not been a problem on my old berated Encore either. But like any REAL bp gun it gets dirty when you shoot it enough. Any leakage you have got has probabally come through the primer pocket and is no big deal. I clean my guns after shooting them whether it is a .22 or a flintlock. I would never trade a great shooting barrel for one that shoots a bit cleaner.

I also for reasons other than his review of the new Knight which looks like a great rifle (although no one will sell it in New England) I just can't stomach Randy. His past has caught up to him and he just proves he gives great reviews to anyone who chucks a bone his way.

I would bet the new rifle is great but not the best rifle out there.

BTW I bet it gets dirty too after a few rounds:D

I guess not:D!

This rifle is interesting enough that I am beginning to wish I still had the Cabelas points I spent on the Kodiak Pro. Put them with the points I earn this year and maybe I could have this rifle for not too much out of pocket. What will it cost in SS? The drop out trigger assembly, looked like stainless, is it? The design is awesome and I suspect it will be more popular than the Triumph or Encore. Maybe Knight has a bright future. Good for them.

Nice work fellas putting some pictures and more info with the name.

Shills it states 209 ignition on the data sheet, no mention of a disc.

She ain't a light weight at 8lbs,though it depends onbalance with the ML barrel for feel in the hand. Knights stocks are usually better then average in terms of production rifles so be interesting how it feels in hand.

Hang in wolfhound they'll probably be adding to it, seeing how popular the encores have become. If thisrifle iseven close to all that, demand will force them to add more choices. The aftermarket stock makers will be on stream as well in do time.

Looks alright, we'll see if we even see any up here this year[:@]!

My guess is the "whatzit" on the hammer spur is for a hammer extension and maybe that front circular "whatzit" is a firing pin selector of some sort?

Patrick, you can just about bet there will be thumbholes for it - from Knight or otherwise. Action looks like a pretty healthy chunk - might even be a conical shooter. :D

One has to wonder why Knight would continue using what has to be one of the world's worst ramrods. Answer is simple enough but why put a cheap arrow shaft with a poorly attached piece of a jag on... oh yeow, I can always spot sumpin ta complain about. :D

Well, I don't own either one of these firearms, First thing I would look at is the barrel options? Does the knight offer barrel options? I do like what the encore has to offer in accuracy. I have a White Shooting Systems white lightning, The accuracy is2" groupsat 200yds, with 295gr powerbelt, and 100gr pyrodex, I shoot musket caps, I just switched to 209, but haven't shot it yet. I am looking to retire the White, but its hard to let it go. I have owned 2 Knight rifles, neither too fancy, both shot caps, The accuracy was not there with any load combination for me. One down fall of the White, it will not shoot Pellets at all, The bullets will tumble with pellets. (Cant hit a 4x4 plywood at 60yds), I have 2 lightnings, I may sell them if I can be convinced to switch to a better gun. So far I am not seeing it.

I'll be reading
