You know its just a dadgone shame. Knight was the leader for over a decade, and the most innovated blackpowder company out there. Inline and technical advances anyway. But they got complacent, and relyed on the disc system for too long with nothing new. It was a great system. But in this game, when you got it up, you need to keep it up. The inline was a huge advancement coming to market. The 209 system was another. The closed primer system was another. I am not sure what else can be done in the ML world. Maybe its reached the end of its road.

I have a Knight Disc Elite and an older TC Hawken. Love them both. If I had to have a new rifle, the onlytwo that interest me at all would be a Knight Long Range Hunter, or maybe a Savage. But I'm very content with what I have.

I loved a TC 7mm TCU pistol years ago, and really enjoy my Hawken, BUT, wasnt it TC who did that comercial with the fruit cake clearing the table of his rifle cause someone else's was easier to clean. To me, that commercial was a real embarresment to me and the sport. Maybe the commercial worked? I hate to think about that. I am negatively affected bycommercials that make us look like fools, and that one really soured me. The latest one with all the barrel switching excitement kind of reminds me of the old drag racing adds,: Sunday, Sunday, Sunday...effective, especially when you get pounded with them, but get old, for me, fast.

With an action as strong as the Disc Bolt, I don't
think I could recomend a shotgun style action that opens like the Vision, and so many others. I don't believe they are as strong, and they have no appeal to me when I have felt so many old shotguns get loose with age.

Now the falling block action does have appeal, but when they put that little button right where I like to grip a rifle, I get turned off. They should have made it open without that silly, safety? item. I havent seriously looked at one yet though.

Knight doest seem to be afraid to build unique rifles that have a limited appeal, but that are appreciated by those looking for such a rifle. I'm still intriqued by that .45 target rifle in their 2005 catalog with the 1:18 twist and 28" barrel. They offered the freeze treated (forget that term) barrel that just might be a cut above on accuracy, for those who wanted and could afford such a barrel. And look at that elk shooting machine they built in .52 You may criticyse it as a gimmick, but for an elk hunter, it may be just the ticket. Who else is putting money into all these models with limited appeal, and probably somewhat limited returns, but that are great for those who appreciate them. Sounds like a great company to me.

I just picked up a Knight Vision, fit and finish is great. If it is like all the other Knights I have and have had it will be a shooter. Have owned several Omegas and they just don't fit me, something about the drop in the stock. Also have a couple CVA Kodiaks and like them as well, all will shoot 2" @ 100. Lyman Mustang is a real shooter with the fancy wood makes a great looking rifle. They all make a good to great muzzleloader it just comes down to preference and how much ya want to spend.

I like my new Knight Vision. Its like shooting the 870, pulls up almost as good too. I wonder why more muzzleloaders dont go hammerless.

thats why i bought my Win. x-150. Had the modern day bolt and thumb safety. Some say that muzzleloaders are getting really modern but if that were true, they wouldnt have switched back to the old age hammers. I think the only reason they still are using hammers is cost.

I wrote to knight about the new gun and there is no pictures but the gun might be interesting to see if Knight can get back in there. I think they will as they have already seen the TCs take off. Knights are great guns and I'm sure they are improving their guns with new innovations but it does take time. I can't wait to see this one. It seemed to impress the author also, which is alot considering whohe is.

Some might disagree but I think that CVA has also put a dent in their market. I considered buying one but Ihad to go with the Optima.
