Lee,
I've always found the XPB bullets interesting. I've even wondered whether I could dip the .500 275 grain in lead and resize in orderto use full bore (unsaboted)as a legal conical in Colorado. I haven't tried to, though, because I suspect it would fail for accuracy due to the lack of sufficient obturation of the all copper XPB.
The bulk XPB's would certainly save money. Also, the new TMZs offer ballistics on par or superior to the XPBs so you might alsowant to look into them.

Pglasgow, this one is particularly interesting to me because the weight and length ratio is very good for the1-28 twist by the formula I use. I just happened to stumble across it when I was looking at some other bullets they are so expensive that I though I might try to get some info befor maling up my mind on weather or not to try some.
As for the obduration of a coated bullet,I did some experiments on that about 30 years a go when there was not much available commercially and they will a 41 in a 50 cal. but the centering is very critical. Lee
