What was the weight before and after on the bullet? It looks like it fragmented quite a bit to me.

rks1949 that is some real expansion you got with that conical. What weight is that and what mold makes that? That's a nice looking conical.
Dave, that's the bullet I shoot in the Prohunter. It's a .452 260 gr. Lee Bullet Mold. I was shooting it w/100grs.T7. While it was very accurate,I wanted to push it harder, and have since removed the lube grooves. I'm thinking it will grab the sabot better, with more surface area, and will be able to take the magnum loads better.Ron

With wheel weights, I avoid them for muzzleloaders. They work fine for fishing sinkers, but are too hard IMO for muzzleloading projectiles. When I cast, I was a pure a lead as possible.
Remember now, I am recollecting this from when I was 10 or 11 years old ore better, some 20-25 years ago. Like I said, we used sheets of lead (soft stuff) for the majority of the bullets that my grandad made. He also made up a lot of that stuff for fishing, which may be where the wheel weights came in, I am not sure. All that I remember for sure is that when I was 17/18 years old and my gramps got the old 54 calibers and others out I got a workout shooting all of his old muzzleloaders. Fun stuff, but painful too when gramps wasnt quite sure how much powder was needed for a good load.
