My buddy is shopping for an inline ML for next year. He was looking at a Traditions Pursuit XLT. Do any of you guys have any experience with this gun? Pros? Cons?
Thanks.
Thanks.

I've had no experience with it. It could be a good rifle but I'm guessing it'sin the lower classas far as muzzleloaders go.
Tell him to go tocabelas.comright now and buy the Winchester Apex in stainless/black for $200. It has a fluted barrel, nice sights, the stainless barrel of course and many other nice features. I haven't gotten a chance to shoot mine yet but it should be accurate enough for me. He'd better hurry because they're selling out fast.
If anyone has any comments on the TraditionsI would be interested to hear them. How does it compare with other inlines. I have always heard that they were Spanish junk. Of course, they said that about mine and it wasn't true at all. Still, I'm inclined to believe that it's not a good rifle. Please share your opinions.

While I am not going to purchase one, I do not consider BPI or any of the rifles with Spanish barrels junk. There are too many people shooting them with some excellent accuracy and resultsto classify them as junk. What it boils down to is some people do not like the Spanish made barrels because of testing of barrel issues they agree with. At the same time other muzzleloader shooters are more then comfortable with their rifles, Spanish barrels and all.
I own a number of traditional Tradition's rifles. All of them are good shooters. I did once purchase a Traditions inline, but when it arrived at the house, the rifle had so much wrong with it, I sent it back and never ordered another one.
Is the Pursuit any good? Well people use them and like them. I think there are better rifles out there for about the same or little more money and I would go that route, but again.. a matter of choice. Tell your friend to look at some of the sales that are or soon will take place. Also if it were me, I would look at Thompson Center, Knight, White, NEF, in that order. Again that is only my opinion. If your friend likes the Pursuit, at least go to the Pro model with a Stainless Steel barrel... my two cents worth.

I don't have the LXT, but I bought the pursuit LT a couple of years back. I was interested in geting in BP and wasn't sure if I would care for it, so I bought a low end rifle, hence the pursuit LT.
The rifle had several problems, bad trigger, cheap sights, to much play when you close the breach, etc. I contacted Traditions and they told me to send it to them. Even thought they offered, I fixed the problems myself and made a decent shooter out of it. I was going to buy a higher quality BP rifle this year but because of some medical problems I put it off. I would recommend going with something better, TCenter, Knight, etc.
