Default jammed load

while loading my TC Omega with two 50 grain plugs and a hollow point power belt the load didn't seat all the way down to where i have it marked on the ram rod. It showed that it should go another 3/8 deeper. I thuoght it best not to shoot it and take it out .When i removed the breach i found that i couldn't push it out . what should i do ? I don't want to damage the gun or my self. This has never happened to me before has anyone had thies happen to them?

Rhody,

A ball puller, (just a screw that adapts to the 10/32 thread of your ram rod), should easily tap into the hollowpoint and help to pull it out by the muzzle. Bullet should pull free from the base going that way. My walmart is selling on clearance, a "ramrod set" for $1.50, which among four other things includes the ball puller. Also, a T-starter would be benefit if you don't have one. You can attach it to the other end of your ramrod and it will give you a better grip.

Sounds like you seated in fouling, so the easiest way out should be the way it went down. If you continue to have trouble, a solvent, water is the universal solvent, will be a benefit in softening the crud. Good luck.

Pour a good penatrating oil in [ enough to have a couple inches over the PB] and leave it set for a day then turn it over and do same from the other end, if its a normal hang up you should be able to push it out after that. Lee

You are lucky that it is a hollow point... we have pulled several from my buddies Hawken doing just as Pglasgowdescribed... The "Aero tip" is a little bit more difficult but it can be done.

If you decide to push the bullet out from thebreech you can do that also but you need to use a narrow wood dowel so that you do not push skirt out into the bore increasing the friction.

Thanks guys i put some oil in and broke up the charge then i was able to get it out with the ram rod and some taps from a chunk of wood .
I think what happened was it got a little stuck on the fouling and then the bullet got distorted when i keep on pushing trying to seat it.

First off the need to lube a barrel to make a sabot slide down it I have never found necessary. If the sabot you load on a clean barrel or swabbed barrel is still hard to load, then you need to get a thinner sabot. Or a different bullet. Before the thinner sabots came out, I used to always look for a .429 or .451 bullet. If just made loading that much easier.

MMP makes some nice HP-24 and others. Harvester makes the Crushed Rib sabot. Then there are some super glide models out there floating around.

Just changing the diameter of you load even the littlest bit can make all the difference in the world. Patched roundball shooters have known this for years and experiment in different thickness of patch and ball to finally get the perfect load. Well it is the same with sabots. If you can reduce the sabot thickness even .001 X 2 for both sides = .002 it will be the difference between a smooth loading sabot and a grunting hard to seat mess...

Omega's normally shoot Shock Waves well and they are very simalar to the HPH24 which Cayuqad mentioned mine likes both well enough to shoot 1 inch groups and load easy. HPH 24's shoot well out of most TC barrels. Lee
