Your Hunting Shack

Alleyyooper and Rammer you guys have great looking stands. How long have they been up? I just put up two new ones with no roofs, really didn't think of that one. All of you have some great hunting retreats. Maybe we can start a "best dressed hunting stand contest" in which we all submit a picture of our stands and we can judge who has the best. We could all get new ideas on building that next best stand we would like to be in.

Thanks for the compliments GotBuck. This will be year 2 with my enclosed stand. It is a 4x8ft enclosed stand, and it is on a natural deer funnel at the corner of300 acres of our CRP grass.

Nope won't post pictures, next thing ya know the mail box would be full of resumes
. Ya I do have a boat, nearly new too.
I like the ladder stand. Would work in places where there isn't room for a 4'x4'. Our stands have been up since 2001 for two of them and 2002 for the other 2.

Actually, this is my father-in-law's, we put it up in 1990 when he decided he was getting too old to sit out in the cold. Mostly rough-sawn red oak with an easy chair and wood stove inside, outhouse out-back. I don't believe I've spent an entire day back in the woods since we built it; too darned easy to walk out of the swamp to warm up and have a bowl of chili out of the dutch oven on top of the stove. Although I will say this, last year opening day I went up to check on my father-in-law and nephews (ok, so here in Michigan it was very, very windy and very, very rainy/snowy and checking on them was just an excuse...), see how they were doing. They were gone, I sat down in the warmth and 10 minutes later just before 1 p.m. a seven-point with an 18" spread trots in from the Federal land and stops 40 yards in front of the pine I told my nephew to hunt from. Good lesson for him when he came back and helped me load the buck in the truck.

More then one person has learned that lesson... I saw the same thing happen about six years ago. One fellow left his stand because he was "bored" and his brother who was walking along too it over. About an hour later he shot a MONSTER off that stand. His brother was fit to be tied. I really did not see the problem.
