It is interesting to note that some priming compounds react in ratio to the foot pounds in the hammer fall, there for they will not produce the same result in all guns. I believe in trying everything available and using what works the best in that instance.

There was an article a couple few years back in Muzzle Blasts about caps.
The big thing is a combination of flame velocity (basically volume of material related) and flame temp (composition of the material related).
Ultimately cap selection boiled down to ignition design and powder type vs. these 2 factors.
Some traditional breeches like drum and snail designs have a long tortuous path to the powder requiring a tad hotter cap with a relatively intense flame. Most in lines dont have this but have issues with length and diameter to the charge which can be comparable problems.
Best bet is try each out and stick with the one that works the best in your piece. I happen to use the CCI magnums having tried the others and found them lacking. Coincidentally they happened to have the an average flame temp but the highest velocity of the types tested in the article.
Keep yer powder dry,

Just wondering which cap's are best for a model 700 Remington muzzle loader. Also what is the diference between a #10, and a #11 cap am i suppose to use a certain one or can i use either. Also is the #209 777 that winchester makes any good. Someone give me a good cap.

I think the Winchester 209 ML primers are good ones. I use them a lot. But if your rifle has a nipple for No. 11 caps, use the CCI No. 11 Magnum caps, and you will have good ignition!

I would go for the musket or 209 primers. They're much hotter and easier to put on than the #11's. I believe you can use any on that gun as long as you have the correct breech plug or whatever, but I'm not familiar with the gun.
