Primer differences?
#2
Well some primers are hotter then others and depending on the powder it can makes swabbing problems worse. I would pick one primer and stick with it, on the range and hunting.
I like the Remington Kleenbore Primers but they are expensive. I also have had excellent luck with the Winchester W209. The new Winchester primers I have not had a chance to try yet...

What are the general differences to consider when choosing primers? Does it affect shot placement much when switching between them?

The new Winchester Triple Se7en 209 primers were developed to combat any crud ring issueswith your Omega. For my Omega, I keep a pack of the hottest primers (Federal 209A) for firing three primers prior to loading the first shot. Those three primersdry everything in that breechplug & bore - making a residue messinsidethe bore - a tad similar to a 777 fouling shot using 20-25 grains. I also keep Federals with me when hunting in very high humidity and/or a rain. They have been known to create ignition when all other primers have failed.
I still have a ton of Kleanbore's sister primer (Rem 209-4s)... but the new Wincheter 777 primers are alot better at reducing both primer residue and Omega crud rings than any other 209 primer.(again my opinion)
