Tomorrow I am picking up an inline at Cabelas-which do you suggest?

I was set on an Omega-but after reading the thread on getting them zeroed-I am a bit concerned on dropping $400 on a bp that can't group

Ain't nothing wrong with an Omega...Bore is a little tight, but they shoot just fine.
I've sighted in several, with MMP-24 sabots and a 250 SST over 100grs of Pyrodex R-S...No problems.

The secret to T/C tight boreswith Omegasis their outstanding accuracy. Please copy & paste the posts that say Omegas don't group very well.

I have a strange feeling you will be searching for more than one or twofor a long time. You may have to scroll past a 100 very good reportsbefore finding one or two subpar reports.

Buy whatever you like..... just hate to see a new ML purchaser regret his purchase afterwards. Do your homework real well -- then buy!

There is no telling what projectile the rifle you choose will like, no matter what rifle you decide on, and what others experiences have been with their rifles. Also I am not all that convinced on the break open design rifles as others. Perhaps if I owned one of that style,I might have a different opinion. There are a lot of excellent bolt rifles and other striker rifles out there.

If I were you I would give Cayugad a PM or email to ask his advice. He hasn't been posting much here lately, but he is one of the guys I would want to talk to if I were in your shoes.

I have got to vote on the side of the Omega. I sighted mine in in about 45 mins with two pellets of T7 and 250 Gr Shockwaves. I couldn't believe how easy it was to get consistency on paper with it. It holds 2 inch groups of three shots at 100 yards. Also in the Omega's favor isthe lifetime warrenty you get with all TC firearms, for me that was a big factor in choosing the Omega.(I had actually gone to get an Encore but liked the feel of the Omega better)

Also I got the Stainless barrel and it is very easy to get clean.

I am now trying some new twists with it. Shooting three pellets of T7 with a 50 Cal Sabot and 40 Cal 200 gr bullet to see how well she will reach out to 200 yards without any holdover/under. It should be dead on at 36 yards, 2.75 high at 100 yards, dead on again at 163 yards and 3 inches low at 200 yards.

If it holds its consistency I will probably use it with this set up for Deer season, if not I am going to switch back to the original load I tried. Or may experiment with 3 pellets and a 250 Gr Shockwave.

The fun is just getting out to shoot!

Asking the thread-starter for Cayugad's advice on a gun the thread-starter has suddenly lost interest in ....plus advise on a gunthat Cayugad doesn't own is very interesting. You continually make me scratch my head once in a while.

I'm still waiting for a reply on the "What's Wong With The Omega" concerns this thread-starter has. Once he explains his troubles that may contain no troubleshooting remedies from other posters here, then we can move forward on another gun model purchase for him -- then Cayugad can give him all the proper advise.

But for right now, I'm puzzled by his Omega displeasure remarks & hopefully he returns here for another visit.

Like I posted before-Omegas look good-I like their feel-but this thread of gus sending in their rifles, not getting good groups bothered me-I am sure that part of the problem with some of them was shooting skill-but nevertheless it made me wonder

I am 100% new to the world of BP-I am just wanting to get another season to chase bucks

I have been reading and talking to as many people as possible abouthte best inline to get i.e accuracy, ease of use, cleaning, model specs of the rifles themselves.

Along the same note I have seen that the powerbelts are the way to go-no plastic sabot melting in the rifling-bullet weights are still in the air to me looks lke 250 is all the higher I would use for deer-and as for powder charges-its pretty much play around with combos of pellets until you get consistent groups...am I on the right track?
