Did a little scouting today

RE: Did a little scouting today
That's normally the way it goes, don't it? I scouted a monster Whitetail one year. I knew where he went, and when. I had seen him in range at least five time. Come season I never saw a trace of him. I later learned he'd been shot almost three miles from where I had set up for him.. That's always my luck with those things.

Come opening day I bet they will be over three mountains and in the dark timber.
I'm finding this to more and more the case where I hunt. Get back at least 1/2 mile from the roads and you'll usually be at least 1/4 mile farther than the majority of other hunters. Have your spot marked with a GPS, start early, and you'll be there when they arrive 15 minutes before daylight and start pushing deer back to you.
Nice pics Sam52!

Jaybe,
I use the Garmin quite a bit, I usually set waypoints on places way back in I would like to check out, like ponds ,saddles and streams.
I have the topo program that is very helpful also.
Even though the GPS is a great invention I still use the compass just as much or even more.
