I don't know about urinating ON a barrel to brown it, but I know of at least one instance when some Mountain Man peed IN his barrel after missing an easy shot - he thought there was an evil spirit in his bore, and he was determined to exorcise it!! (Don't know if it worked or not..... but it MIGHT have, if his miss was due to excessive fouling!!)
