22 hornet conversion kit for muzzleloaders

What is your take on switching from 209 primers to this?

What you want is the 25 ACP conversion not the 22 Hornet. The 22 Hornet conversion has to have trimmed bras and the 25 ACP there's no trimming rquired. All I can say is that I like the 25 ACP much better in my Omega than 209 primers. It seals the against the blowback.

I saw the 25 acp also,So it does do as good as they say,as far as cutting down on corrosion? Is it justas reliable as 209's?I'm seriously thinking about it.Also, does it increase accuracy as stated? Thanks a ton!:D

It doesn't cut corrosion, but it does keep the blowback out of the action. I guess it could keep your action from rusting up.

I've not had a single missfire. I wouldn't use it for pellets but for loose you shouldn't have a problem.

Not in my experience. On the other hand it's no less accurate either.

What blowback? You get blowback using 209 primers? With factory breech plugs?

I am glad I don't have that problem with my Omega. I use plain old Winchester 209's and forget about it.

As a side note my Encore has performed great without those whizbang kits for almost 10 years as well. Just plain old 209 primers, hell I still have the origional breech plug in that thing and it looks as new as the one on the Omega.

But I have no problem with people who need it to improve on a factory design. I am lucky I guess that the factory set up works fine on both my rifles.

I hope the fix doesn't cost you guys too much or I would demand the factory fix the problem.

With 3 factory plugs. I actually have a little come out of the action.

Win 209's are all I've ever used.

I wish it had been that way with mine.

$59.99 plus the tools to prime the brass. It's worth it to me. My Omega's a shooter with a good trigger. Unless it's a safely issue I won't send it back for anything.

You get blowback from the Encore? Through the primer hole?

Pittsburghunter, you get no corrosion at all around the nipple, firing pin,or breech plug?I don't have a newer gun like you guys do.I have a Traditions Buckhunter pro,Inline, and it gets corrosion, blowback, rust all in the breech plug, nipple area.

I want a new gun with a longer barrel,My buckhunter's barrel is 22".I want to put a scope on the gun I'm going to buy.Iwas wanting an Apex, but it seems likethe most popular gun in that style is the omega.I don't want any corrosion or blowback. That's what I was looking at this kit for. It's supposed to help keep it cleaner.

I think Wolfhound76is referring to the corrosion.

What load are you using in your omega? Thanks.

Any gun including cartridge guns get fowling in the breech and it needs to be cleaned. I guess with my Encore I am pretty lucky it doesn't get that much dirtier using my BP barrel compared to my centerfire ones.
