Well, the postman was good to me today. He showed up with my Lyman Peep as well as sabots, courtesy of some guy that loads sabots over in Idaho. Thanks sabotloader!
I didn't have to grind the stock or the peep. A little clearance all the way around.
I set this up prior to taking the other sights off, so this should be pretty close to where the peep will end up. So, quite a bit of up adjustment left.
A few different views.

Good night.

Thanks cayugad, I could not be happier with it. I don't want to get all mushy here, but I really appreciate this forum and all that contribute. You have helped me make what I think is the best decision possible in my search for a ML. I had my eyes on a couple other brands and I am sure I would have been happy with them also, but IN MY MIND, here is what I got with the White.......Same exact price as the other two I was looking at. A better looking gun (wow are they attractive), a simpler design which is easier to clean/maintain and a very accurate gun that shoots a wide variety of bullets well. What more could I ask for??????
Also, without sabotloader's willingness to go out of his way to get together with a complete newbie and his teenage son, I probably would still be just thinking about it. I am sure there are others here that would do the same thing.

Dang it UC, stay out of it!
Just kidding, you make a good point. I'll have to think about some kind of shield to put in there. Anyone have any ideas?Could I just use some electrical tape until Icome up with something else.
I would like to make a SmurfShield, but need to find the right diameter of tube.

It makes me almost want to put one on my Ultra Mag. Although in all honesty the fiber optic sights that came with the rifle are excellent and work very well for me...
Perhaps a simple toothbrush and some soap and water.. looks like it should scrub clean easy enough.

Yes, there is a push button release, which works very nice. So, I guess I can just pop it off, clean, dry, lightly oil and reinstall.
On one of the guns, the fiber optic sight was kind of messed up. Well, when I set the windage and then went to change the elevation, it would not move. I had to loosen the windage screw to move the elevation. That's no good, cause then I just messed up the windage. Also, I was careful not to overtighten the screws and it felt like the elevation screw was stripped. That is the gun I put the peep on (my gun). I will let Matthew try it and see if he likes it. May end up buying another.

Once you get it sighted in don't forget to set the elevation stop. If you don't and you pull the tower off and put it back on it won't be in the same place, (experiance) trust me, I forgot once and had to go back to the range and re-sight the gun. Just my personal preference, I don't like that big apeture disk. I have better luck just removing the apeture all together and use it like a gost ring.

I hear ya goatbrother, thanks for the advise.
I have an old 30-30 that has a Lyman Peep on it. I just checked it to make sure and verified that it doesn't have an aperture in it. I never new the difference when I used it 25 years ago. I shot it one time at an animal. One shot, one dead deer. This gun has quite a history. My grandmother (Mom's Mom) shot a deer with it the day I was born, in November of 1964. She always told me, "I got two little deers that day." My dad and I both shot our first deer with that gun also.
My plan right now is to try it with the fine aperture to try to see what I can do with some 3 shot groups. May also try a few groups with the larger aperture. If I feel they obscure my vision too much for hunting, I might just decide to leave the aperture out after figuring out what load I am going to use.
