Thanks for the pic of the bolt disassembly tool Sabotloader. I've got one on order from Brownell's. Skeeter, the state of Washington does not letme hunt with 209 and shotgun primers, but thanks for the information on the conversion kit. Tahquamenon, thanks for the motherly advice. When I get the bolt disassembly tool I'll pull the bolt appart and see if the firing pin/spring can be ressurrected. If not, I'll order new parts and chalk it up to lesson learned. Trust me, I will be much more religeous about proper bolt care in the future. Thanks guys for all your advice.

The bolt disassembly tool arrived from Brownell's yesterday. Last night I took apart the bolt and gave it a good cleaning inside and out with some bore cleaner. After reassembly, success! I was able to rife caps on the first pull again. Thanks much for all your valuable advice!

One other question. Some of you suggested replacing the spring on the firing pin, but I could not figure out how to disasemble that portion of firing pin assembly. Any instructions would be very helpful and much appreciated. If none is forthcoming, I thankful for what you have already provided.

When you have the bolt taken apart - put the bolt pin down on a block of wood - push the bolt down like you were cocking it the bolt will push out of the shroud and you will see a spring pin through the bolt and firing pin. This pin needs to be removed and then you can screw the firing pin out of the shroud.

I'll bet you somethin nice the problem is in skeeter 7mm post under #2.

Those 700M's were famous for breakin or weakened bolt springs.

Replace the spring - and install Hot Shot nipple and I'll bet that rascal fires first time everytime. The Old T/C inlines had same problem - but not as bad as M700's. T/C Bolt is alot easier to take apart and clean spring and related parts.

Alot of guys got rid of those guns because of a $2.00 spring and a decent nipple.
