Casting Conicals
I just ordered a .380 Mold and a Lee melting pot and some flux from Midsouth, all of the above was $ 72.00. Great deal from what I found in my research.I am going to try to cast my own conicals for my T/C Hawken .54. I have shot the .380 REAL'S and had great sucess, thus the leap to making my own.
My next purchase will be the lead, does anyone have any good tips on what I should or should not buy.

If you can get the lead guttering from cornors in a roof or the lead sheeting from an old roof [often found in the junk yard] or old lead sewer pipe.DO NOT include any solder in your melt or breath ANY FUMES. I set up a big fan to suck them away and work in the open. Lee

lead can be obtained from a number of sources. The main thing is you want pure lead. Plumbing supply houses carry lead ingots. Right now lead is kind of expensive to be honest. Also old lead pipe is pure but you need to clean it and flux it a lot to get all the crud off it. Old lead roof flashing is also pure. Stay away from Wheel Weights, and that kind of mixed lead.
Also get a bees wax candle if you can. You can use it to smoke and carbon your mold also a little bees wax can help flux the lead. A long nose lighter comes in handy as well.

I'm going to guess he is talking the 380 grain R.E.A.L. for the .54 caliber rifle. They are a three band REAL and when pushed with about 80-90 grains of powder shoot very well out of the 1-48 twist rifles. Also they have some excellent down range energy..
