RE: The Ultra Mag with various projectiles
ORIGINAL: txfireman Cayugad, Nice shootin, looks like you have a ML that will do it all. Congrats again on the new toy, or should I say tool. That's what I tell my wife when I buy a new gun, had to get a tool for work...haha. |
RE: The Ultra Mag with various projectiles
Nah, it's just rubber that wraps around and fits over the top turret cap. Covers the side cap compleltely so it's only a bit of pain to unwrap that part and make any adjustments to the scope. Once sighted in, no problem at all. Just throw the Undertube in the washwater! Some of those others I've posted were meant to be over-the-top jokes. But that slidin' one will work if it will stay put. :D ;)

RE: The Ultra Mag with various projectiles
Actually it is a good idea. I am surprised it stays on there that well. Would that be considered a closed breech then with the addition of that?
|
RE: The Ultra Mag with various projectiles
No, the tube rubber just wraps around the scope - no impact on the breech.
But my other one with the rubber coated fitted-PVC action cap could be considered closed. :D:D |
RE: The Ultra Mag with various projectiles
Cayucad - Thanks! I have 40lbs of Bullshop conicals on the way and you got me thinking " Oh, try some plastic":D

Gotta tell you - I really think these Ultra Mags will shoot most anything you put down the barrel... I know their reputation is for shooting big lead - but I will confirm they polymere realy well. |
RE: The Ultra Mag with various projectiles
Mike - I got the 3 petal sabots in from MMP, so the next project is to see how the Omega shoots them. No time today, but did try the fit - amazing, they push down the barrel with moderate pressure instead of having to horse them. Even the 24's were a bear to seat - just hope this shoot - got some SW and Barnes to try.
If they group, then the Omega is probably going down the road. With 5 Whites now (6th on the way) I may try setting up the Ultra Mag as the long range shooter with sabots. So little time - darn work!:D |

Boy! I know what you mean about WORK - sure gets in the way sometimes - I had to stay here all day tying to get all my schoolwork done.. Heck, the students think they have home work - SO DO I... With all those Whites - I wonder about the need for the Omega myself and I only have one - gosh it is a good one tough. One of the reason I sprung for the Omega was ease of cleaning - which cleaning the barrel is but by the time you get to cleaning the trigger and block it not that much easier than my Rems - but the Ultra is really a peice of cake. I would bet your Omega is going to pop those 3P's out just fine - it is really a good shooting gun. I have set mine up for elk season and then I normally switch to a Remington for deer - and then a side hammer for ML season. This White is really starting to capture my attention. It is in the cleaning station in the back room - everytime I go in there I picked it up and shoulder it - it is really starting to fit really well. Right now I realize I am over confident in the Ultra Mag - I would shoot it long distance with anything I have right now. Should have gone shooting today.... |
RE: The Ultra Mag with various projectiles
:D:D:D Sabotloader... while I was shooting mine, you were in the back of my mind. My brother was up visiting, and he was drooling over my White Ultra Mag. When he saw me shooting sabots, he told me he thought that was a conical rifle until I started blasting. I told him about the luck you had and that I had to prove to myself whether this rifle would throw plastic or not.
But I am glad you had work to do. You need to spend more time at home !! :D:D |
