Think you will be very happy with the encore, they will shoot and are pretty easy to clean.Did you get the 45 or 50 cal? Reason I ask is chaz post about his 45 doing 3/4 in.
My first encore was a 45 with 1:20 twist couldn't get it to shoot with the195 gr barnes or 200 gr sst's,sent it back and t/c sent me a 1:28 twist never got it to shoot less than 1 1/2 in @100.
Got a 50 cal barrel and it shoots the 2 bullets I wanted to shoot very well. Not knocking the 45 it just didn't shoot what I wanted it to shoot.
Let us know how yours does.

I bought my Encore 209x50 on Jan 1, 2006 from Bass Pro and paid $519.00. It was the stainless with black synthetic stocks. There are normally 569.00. I'd call around or check on line to see if you can get it cheaper than in the $700 range. Your should be able to get into that ML for 500-650 depending on which one you get. Then just get a gun shop local to you to have it shipped there. Usually they charge 25%. Also you will have to fill out all the paperwork on it due to it not just being a ML. Being able to put other centerfire rifle barrels on it makes you have to do the full ATF paperwork on it.

If I am not mistaken the Exchange rate on Canadian dollars to U.S.A. dollars is 30%.The Canadian dollar is worth 70 cents on the US dollar. So if you subtract the 30% off what he is paying it comes close to what we are paying in the states. He also has to pay that import duty.

My math can either be rusty or I am just plain and simple figureing wrong. He is paying $679.00 times the money excange rate of 30% equals $203.70. Subtract the $203.70 from $679.00 equals $475.30. If the canadian dollar was worth the same as ours he would be getting his rifle for $475.00

alley - 18-24 months ago you'd be correct, however it has been in 15-20% mark for the past year. If I were toexchange my loonie(canadian dollar) I'd get .85USD -today.
However the exchange rate isn't the entire picture involved with retail pricing hereimported goods are subject to: duty, brokerage and higher shipping costs as well.

That price is actually about right, anything you could consider a luxury up here is outrageously priced! I still can't get over what powder goes for, T7 in the states costs what, 18$? Up here, 36.99can. Pyrodex,29.99. Pellets, more than it's worth!
I saw a post on here a while back about someone who bought a CVA hunterbolt like mine at a walmart or something for about 200$us. Mine cost about $449can. if I remember correctly. BURN!
