69-77 here. Mainly a nuke bubblehead, but did get to spend a luxury vacation off Yankee Station on the Constellation in the autumn of 69.

I think I even know the problem - to many years running up and down the mast with those radars turning - absorbed to many micro-waves - made me go bald also.... I remember one time we were going into San Francisco Bay - I went up the mast to the TACAN antenna on top - I wanted to see if I could touch the bottom of the Golden Gate Bridge - missed it by that much much - 30 feet.... Guess the Navy new that though....
