Cayugad,
Thanks for the links and information. You mention casting my own projectiles.
I've alwayswanted to do that, but I wasn't sure about all that's involved.
For instance, could I use a propane fish cooker an dutch oven for melting the led? Do I need to keep the led at a certain temperature while casting?
And wouldI need to preheat the mold prior to pouring the led in. What
types alloys are best used for casting roundballs, conicals etc...
Could or would you mind giving me a run down on this? I sure would appreciate
it. BTW, I hope the 40cal barrel works out for ya. It should be a little easier
on the shoulder than the 54 while shoot'n those peskysquirrels.

Blown Smoke,
I have very little experience shooting conicals out of my .36cal rifle. I have what I think are some old T/C .36cal Maxi Balls that are 128gr. They shoot "ok" but I prefer shooting .32cal Hornady XTP's. Hornady makes these XTP's (.312dia.)in 60gr./85gr. and 100gr. weights.
I use a MMP sabot with either the 85gr. XTP or 100gr. XTP, and30grs. FFFg powderwith excellent results.

MMP makes a .312 plastic sabot for a 36 caliber ML (31/36) ????

Whatother sizesdo they make that's odd like that?

You can order the .36cal. MMP Sabots directly from MMP. The .36cal MMP sabot will fit a .311-.314 bullet.
Here's the url for MMP:http://www.mmpsabots.com/grey1.html
