lemoyneI see had the same experience I had with it. I could not use my powder horn or the powder measure that had the funnel. So I put a top on the jug, and used a open brass powder measure. Then it worked fine. Actually the stuff shot great and I never saw a moisture problem with it like others. But I should point out I did not go out of my way to expose it to moisture of any kind.

Now the Pinnacle 3f is fine for pouring and every thing else. Also it is a very clean powder, shot ROUNDBALL very well. It did have some problems with the large conicals. Also makes a lot of good smoke when you shoot it.

cayugad, did you try gold? If you did was it shooting identical with APP?
the only differance between them I am finding is that Gold costs $1+ a can more. I have some Pinnacle but have not got to it yet. some of my friends say its just like 777 with out the crud and rings and its real good for short barrels and light bullets but you have to watch the pressure , do you agree with that? So if I get 3f then what do I start with for a powder charge? What would be equal to 90gr of Pyrodex Select?

No I have not had any Shockey Gold. I was lucky enough to have a relative that lives near a Cabela's that is planning a visit so I gave them a shopping list you might say of all the powders and stuff I do not want to pay hazmat on.

I was shooting 100 grains of Pinnacle out of my Black Diamond XR and it had a good snap to it. Good accuracy also, but you know you have a good load. I have no chronograph so I never get the bullet speed stuff.

The Pinnacle 3f I shot, I really like. I am hard to please when it comes to spending extra money for speciality powders. I shoot Goex 99% of the time. Yet on every black powder order I always get a couple more pounds of Pinnacle 3f. Out of my 22" barrel Knight Wolverine LK-II and 240 grain bullets the stuff is excellent.I hunted with it this year but not got the opportunity to test it on a deer. The accuracy is exceptional and there is no crud or fowling. The only place Pinnacle really let me down was shooting large conicals. It just could not get the accuracy like the Triple Se7en, Pyrodex P, or Goex 3f could do. Pionnacle also shot roundball out of my traditonal rifles very well.

SharpShooter - of ypu decide to shoot APP you might not like how it shoots conicals. It's been a long time since I shot conicals with it, so I am looking forward to my three pounds of it. It always did shoot roundball excellent. Especially out of my larger caliber rifles. In my .54 & .58 caliber the stuff was deadly with roundball...
