RE: T/C Scout nipple

I want to thank everybody helping me with my problems!!!
In response to some people: I guess it would be a carbine, the barrel length from end to the end of the nipple is 27 1/2 inches long. In the very beginning I used straight black powder of 100 gr. and didn't seem to have any problems. Then the people I was hunting withwere using Pyrodex powder so I switched. I am going to try the FFF powder and see what it does, or maybe go back to straight black powder.I use the 44cal sabots of 240gr.as recomended so I will stick with them. The caps I use depends on what I can get my hands on. I think I will try to stick with what used to work good (RWS 1075 perc. caps) and the CCI #11 magnum caps. The only modification I have made to the nipple was put a very small hole thru the nipple close to the end to help the cap split and fall off (kind of like a hot shot nipple). THANK YOU to everybody with your expertise!!! I am always looking for extra help!!!

RE: T/C Scout nipple

Buy some FFF Goex and some 250g Shockwave bullets for that rifle. Use between 80-90g of the stuff and you will be surprized. Some of the best targets I have ever printed came from my Scout. If you have a reloading shop near by look for the Hornaday 265g flatpointed interlocks, they are one of the best all round bullets I have ever shot out of a muzzleloader. They are .429 in diameter and shoot quite well with the loose mag-express T/C sabots you can buy at almost all gun shops.

I bought those bullets for reloading my .44mag and ended up shooting them in my m/l instead:D

BTW the CCI mag caps also get a thumbs up from me. The spark channel on a Scout is pretty long.

I have been doing some investigating and found this website and some of their accessories. the web site is www.shootnhunt.com and search All Items -> Black Powder -> Black Powder Nipples, Breech Plugs & Conversion Kits -> and look at the Thompson stuff and see what you think about a retro-fit like ENCOREMAN came up with and let me know what you think.
