I've been shooting Pinnacle and I like that. It is made by American Pioneer Powder & Goex. How much influence Goex has in it actually is unknown. Some people claim it is dyed APP. I have shot 12 T/C Mag Express 240 grain Sabots out of my Wolverine with out swabbing and the accuracy was excellent. I have also shot a lot of it out of my sidelocks without problems. I have some 3f APP and Black Mag coming my way soon,so it should befun testing some new powders again.

When I get it, I will test it in my sidelocks and see what kind of results I get.

I think I did learn a trick useing the APP I have. It is to tip the rifle patch box side down then tap the stock in the breach area with my palmbefore capping the nipple. I was useing a hot shot nipple by uncle mike yesterday. I had less no fires when the cap went off and only the one hang fire, than I had the day before with musket caps. I've decided the hammer having the cup doesn't work well with musket caps on my Hawkins.
2f APP may work better in a side lock than the 3f. Not sure just how much finer it is though.
What I am thinking about the course grains of the 3f I do thinkleads to a problem getting pellets to fire in my rifle.
I don't use pellets and really don't intend to Just my thoughts about them.
I find that rolling a powder charge in TP is as fast for me as a friend with his pellets.

2FG APP is like fishtank gravel and you will not like it.

Another thing that APP does is it draws moisture like a sponge after firing. You may be pushing that moisture down into the flash channel and subsequently fouling shots thereafter. Not a fan of APP here.

I think you will have better performance if shoot either 777 or Goex or my preferance Swiss 3FG black powder.

I prefer 3FG powders but 777 FFG shoots very well also.

Black Mag'3 is very good in percussion ML's.

Be sure the rifle is on "half cock when loading powder. Then as you mentioned with the muzzle upward, tap with your palm near the breech on the lock side of the barrel to settle some powder

Every 4-5 few shots, use a nipple pick to clear the nipple.

Good luck!
