Default my new flintlock came in today!!!

Well after a lot of questions were answered by cayugad i ordered the lyman trade rifle in 54 caliber he suggested and it sure is a nice flinter. It just came in today and im very ecited about it. The wood has a real nice dark look to it and it feels wonderful to shoulder. The mechanical work is great also. Now i just cant wait to shoot it and i thank cayugad for all his answeres and recomending this flinter to me or else i would have been completely lost lol

The only thing that was wrong with mine were the thimble rib screws were loose. Be sure to get some lock tight (blue color or red) and check them. A little drop on them now will save you a lot of head aches later. Did you get that nice big agate also with the rifle. That thing worked perfect for me for over 60 shots. I've never had another agate that worked that well.

90 grains of Goex 2f and a .530 patched roundball and I think you will really like your new rifle. Mine has a dark stock also, and I really like the fit and finish of the hardware to the wood....

Keep us posted on how well it shoots. I'm glad your pleased with the rifle. Also there is a lot of grease in the barrel of that new rifle. I cleaned mine for ever it seemed. Also I changed the vent liner over to the Allen wrench head kind from RMC and have never used the one that came with the rifle. I think the RMC liner is coned different. Ignition is right now. I know you're going to have a blast with that rifle.

Find a gallon milk jug, fill it with water, and shoot that once. The power of the roundball will amaze you....

As Cayugad mentioned, the liner from RMC is the way to go. As a side note, I bought a 32 barrel for my trade from RMC. Yep its heavy as its the same size with a much smaller hole, but for tree rats its a lot of fun.

Yes, mine came with the adjustable buckhorn sight which I changed over to right away. I like that sight a lot and get a good sight picture. The fixed sight on it was a little high and to the right for me but not bad. I could have made some adjustments to it and used it, but I liked the other sight better....
