Default Omega / Pinnacle T7 Load Data

Group Bullet Loadgr Powder FPS Ave
2.2 175 DC 110 Pinnacle 2F 1870
3.1 175 DC 120 T7 FF 2280
6.7 175 DC 150 T7 FF 2425
1.5 200 SW 120 T7 FF 2308
1.6 200 SW 150 Pinnacle 2F 2215
3.7 200 SW 150 T7 FF 2408
1.8 240 XTP 100 T7 FF 1961

Here is some data from the other day using 175 gr duplex dead centers and 200gr shockwaves. My opinion so far- pinnacle seems to be 200-400 fps slower than T7. When I used 150-gr pinnacle I could not get a dry patch down the barrel. Pinnacle seems to work well and be very clean at 100 gr or less. The other day I didn’t have to swab for about 6 shots and accuracy was still good. My opinion on pinnacle is stay with t7 if you want 1800 fps or better, you have to swab with both of them so you might as well use t7. I’ll probably shoot some more over the holidays if I can get the wind to die down. My best bullet for my omega has been the 250 gr shockwave but I did not have time to chronograph and work up a load the other day. It appears after as the speed goes up the group size widens considerably. I would like to find the fastest load that will give me 2’” groups or less.

Some very interesting data there. I would have never guess that the difference was what you show. I note you are shooting Pinnacle 2f. I shoot Pinnacle 3f but your information is interesting. What did you think of the fowling aspects of Pinnacle compared to Triple Se7en in your rifle? I can shoot Pinnacle with little or no fowling what so ever.

There was little fouling with 100 grs but 150 was worse than t7. I think I might try to get a hold of some Pinnacle FFF. The accuracy was about the same with the two powders if you use the same velocity for comparison.

Since this was with loose powder I am guessing, some of them loads must have seemed pretty hot!!

The bullets were light so that helped, I think I'll end up around 100-120gr of T7 for hunting. Looks likea light wind tommorow so I think I'll try to shoot some more.

Is this a .45 or a .50cal? If it is a .50cal I think you will find you were overdriving bullets too short to take advantage of your rifles twist. I notice your groups got better with the 240g bullets so I suspect a .50cal rifle.

Try some 250-300g bullets with the same loads and report back to us. You folks who own chronographs are a muzzleloaders best friend.

Thank you very much for the data!!!!

I guess I am assuming these are pellet loads? especially the 150 grain loads of T7??? The way Iread the post I really think you are talking loose, but I am trying to figure out if TC says 150 grains of loose T7 is OK for the Omega.

I guess I could go look on the web site, but no-one else is saying anything so it must be OK...
