RE: Pictures of you rifle
Mine is a 50 cal Traditions "Shenandoah."
![]() And the action: ![]() I've only had it for about 3 months and it has been a lot of fun to shoot. A real conversation piece at the range to boot! Not to sound hackneyed, but shooting this gun and learning about flintlocks in general, has really opened my eyes to the difficulties users of these weapons experienced. ~Robert |
RE: Pictures of you rifle
I am hoping Cayugad will reply. From the sound of it, he has got quite a collection.

RE: Pictures of you rifle
![]() Here's a picture of a few of the traditional rifles I like to shoot the most. And some of the Green Mountian Barrels I like to switch back and fourth with. And I see my new Knight Disc rifle in there with the camo stock. The other wall has more inline rifles, and the gun cabinet has a few of the old Thompson Center rifles I have... All of them I do shoot (other then the modern rifles.. I have not shot them in many years). And the black powder handguns. Also this picture shows some of the empty cans of black powder, swiss, pyrodex jugs (I threw away a lot of them) and Triple Se7en jugs,I shot off last year and the #11 caps. |
RE: Pictures of you rifle

RE: Pictures of you rifle
A rare T/C Express .50 I found used (unfired) for $150 last spring.
|
RE: Pictures of you rifle
Pittsburghunter,
"Nice rifle";) TheExpress looks just like a T/C Renegade with a pistol grip stock. My T/C High Plains Sporter has a pistol grip stock also, and is similiarto the New Englander (round barrel). |
RE: Pictures of you rifle
![]() (Photo courtesy of DJR) FWIW I have the MowreyPlains Rifle in 50cal with all brass hardware, including the forend and I love it! They are a modernized copy of the Allen & Thurber design. I bought mine used for $60 ... "broken - as is" ... as the screw securing the hammer was broken off inside the tumbler. I called Mowrey for a new hammer and tumbler and they just sent me the replacement parts for free, but that was a looooong time agonow. The one I have is IDENTICAL to DJR's rifleshown, down to the all brass hardware, rear semi-Scheutzen style buttstock and all, but mine wears a factory target blade rear sight. These were made for roundball shooting and have a 1-in-66" twist rifling which I believe is only 0.012" deep. I use 0.490 RB with 70grs FFFg and dry-lubed 0.010" strip patches cut at the muzzle. |

ORIGINAL: ENCOREMAN eldequello, I love your Hartley Hawken rifle;)....wishing I had one! I planned on posting a picture of my T/C Scout, since you don't see them very often anymore, but after seeing cayugad's collection I decided to show a few more if my muzzleloaders. Here's a fullstock flintlock Hawken I built once with a cherry stock, German silver furniture, and a Green River Rifle Works .58 caliber, 1" dia barrel. Unfortunately, my camera is pretty limited, so this pic is not too good. I'm working on a .73 cal. Jaeger right now... If it's not too ugly when I get done, I'll post a picture of it. ![]() |
RE: Pictures of you rifle
This is my home made .62 cal Underhammers. 25" Orion barrel with a 1in72 twist. It shoots quite well with 80FF, a light load for me, but the gun really likes it.

RE: Pictures of you rifle
Pittsburghunter,
I'd be more than happy :)to take the T/C Express of your hands if you ever decided to sell it! |
RE: Pictures of you rifle
Well with your T/C collection you would be on the short list. You got to go with someone you know who would give it proper care and feeding. Guns are made to be SHOT!!!;)

RE: Pictures of you rifle
![]() Probably my favorite rifle, although some of the others are neck to neck with this White 98. The little target at the bottom were the first three of Mose's gas-checked bullets ever fired. 100 yards - 1/2" ctr to ctr for 3 shots. http://www.missouri-whitetails.com/data/500/4998white3.jpg Bigger pic. Pic was taken at the old White facility in Utah before shipping to me. ![]() White Super 91 in .410 - haven't shot this one enough just yet to find the sweet spot. Bob Bowers (Super91) added the finishing touches to this rifle and did a superb job. ![]() My TC G2 Contender 209x45 is a real shooter. Wears a little Millett scope now and different rings. She kicks! But at under 7 lbs scoped, I'll put up with a little kick. Truly like this little rifle! My Encore and Huntsman are both good shooters. I'm just not real sure yet whut my Denali is. ? |
RE: Pictures of you rifle
Underclocked,
Nice collection and I like the 3 shot group fired by your White 98 ;) What is your favorite load for your T/C G2? |
RE: Pictures of you rifle
All nice rifles. I need to get mine on here this weekend.

This renegade will shoot heavy charges with 230 grain RB and it has a 1 in 48 barrel twist. My load is 95 grains of 3f A wad and patch RB walmart pillow material and 60/40 beeswax and lard for patch lube, has the partridge sight on it |
RE: Pictures of you rifle
Here's mine. A T/C Omega Z5 that I just bought last week. Talley one-piece base and rings with a Bushnell Elite 3200 3x9x40. Can't wait to fire it but that probably won't happen until the spring. Its 10 degrees F up here in Manitoba with a bunch of snow on the ground.
The other is my T/C .50 cal White Mountain Carbine. This one used to belong to my Father In-Law. Really nice little gun. |
RE: Pictures of you rifle
This is anearly style TC Hawken, .50cal Flintlock...when I refinished the stock I was shocked at how beautiful the wood was, hidden under the automated factory spray on finish
|
RE: Pictures of you rifle
roundball.....how do you know thats an "early style" TC hawken?? what are the diffrences?? just wondering...i bought one used....and would like to know the where abouts of the age....looked like an old gun...had an old style screw driver slot touchhole in it....brass ramrod like yours....heck.....did you sell that gun in PA?? i bought that guns brother!! mines a flinter too!! what do you shoot out of it?? mine loves to shoot roundballs...hates bullets though...cant get toehm to shoot worth a dang....right now im shooting a .495hornady ball..... .015 prelubed TC patch...and 90grs of 3fg goex.....yes...its tight....but its a shooter.....once its started it slides right down though...any roundball load ive tried shot excellent in that gun though...even loose patch n balls.... .010 patch and a .490 ball used to practically fall right down there....and shot great.....can you tell me the diffrences between new and old style if there are any? or serial number runnings or something if you know?? just curious......i really think mine was older...wish i could find the original owner and shake his hand.......man he kept a nice rifle....and your right...that crappy TC finish was garbage.....every scratch turned white and looked nasty.....i refinished mine the first winter i had it with truoil...and add a few coats every winter after the season.....man it had some nice wood underneath that plastic crappy coating.....

RE: Pictures of you rifle
From my experiences with several I've looked at and bought, the 70's and early 80's Hawken stocks hadphysically larger stocks, higher / very pronounced combs, longer LOP's (14.5-14.75") and usually a much better looking grade of wood.
That rifle was actually a caplock...I bought it just to get the stock, sold the caplock & barrel, refinished the stock, installeda new TC Flintlock assembly,TC.50cal 1:66" RBFlint barrel, anda brass ramrod. Deer load is: 90grns Goex 3F OxYoke wad .018" TC pillow tricking patch Hornady .490 ball It's a beauty and as accurate as all get out...love it |
RE: Pictures of you rifle
This is my deer rifle...a .54 that I finished in 1990...
|
RE: Pictures of you rifle
OK...trying again...
