Tweaked primer spring..Traditions Tracker 209
This happened last week when I was taking the breech plug apart for cleaning. I put removed the bolt, inserted the breech plug wrench and put some pressure on it and started turning. Instead of loosening up the breech plug, the wrench got a hold of that little piece of wire that holds the primer securely and tweaked the hell out of it. This happened a few days into the muzzleloader season here in VA. I hunted with out that little spring for a few days, but it wasn't easy because the primer kept falling out anytime the barrel was raised at a steep angle. It's amazing how essential this part is.
I called up Traditions about an hour ago and told them what happened and they said they would send me the wire spring that I broke. Good of them to do that as I was just thinking about buying a brand new breech plug. The problem with that is locating one, any suggestions for online vendors that have them? I figure it would be good to have one of these as a spare.
Oh, and so far my deer season has been less than stellar here in VA. Of course I blame the public land I hunt and the less than perfect weather.
