RE: Omega mounts

Encore50, I ordered the same setup for the same reason. I think it will work out fine. I have QR setups on a couple of my other guns and love them. Thanks for the info.

I got my mounts last night and put everything together. I am really satisfied with the setup. I really like the quick release rings. They have many advantages to them, especially when cleanig the gun or if I want to use the iron sights one day. The Nikon 3X9X40 Buckmasters scope looks really good on the Omega. My Sims recoil pad will be in on Monday. I am going to try and shoot it tomorrow. It depends on how many people are at the hunting club.

yakfisher,
Sounds like you're ready to make some smoke! The Leupold QR rings and base are the best set up, IMO for a muzzleloader. You'll like your sims pad too once youhave it installed. I'm interested to seeif you loose the feel for seating the bullet on loose powder like I did. The sims pad collapses so easily.

The pad on my Knight is pretty soft. I just put downward pressure with the hand holding the barrel. You can just about bottom out the pad. Seems to take the spongyness out of it.
