Default New gun on the market

I was going to buy the tc encore but was told the new savage smokeless ml was out and could shoot 1/2 groups at 200 yards. this ml is new to the market I read the specs on the web page looks real good. I dont know the price or the options yet. Just think no more cleaning at the range {smokeless powder}. smaller loads more power ,just like a rifle.any opionons christmas is coming and I think I would like It under the tree. This ml shoots speeds over 3000 fps.

They are a great rifle... if you have serious questions about them come to this site http://modernmuzzleloader.com and ask away. A lot of Savage users there and they can give you actual range results on them there. I think it might surprise you..

Savage has had a smokeless muzzleloader out for quiet a few years. my grandpa has one and has had it for id say 8 or more years. so idk unless its a different model i think its been out longer then just recently. I know for a fact that it is a ml also because i am looking at it right now and it says smokeless ml but he has had it atleast 5 years. but it is a good gun but i think its a kinda bad because with the use of smokeless powder its to the point might as well just use a rifle.

Ummm... I don't know many custom rifles that will shoot that well. I beleive their guarantee is 1.5 inches at 100 yards. By the way, I think that most ML out there will do that or very close. Mine TC Omega will shoot that. Anyway the Savage is a fine ML, but buy it for the ability to use smokeless powder. If you don't plan on doing that, their are much cheaper alternatives out there that will give you simalr results.

sybigbuck,
I think you're a little confused about the 3,000fpswith foot pounds of energy?

Smokeless ML? That's no fun!!!! I would make sure that it uses a green mountain barrel with the 3000 fps.

The savage is a fine muzzleloader wether you shoot smokeless or black subs in it.Useing a 250 gr bullet I think some get close to 2700 fps but haven't heard anyone getting 3000 fps so far.As too it could shoot 1/2 inch at 200 yds it is very possible.I have shot several groups less than an inch at 200 but the one below was shot in 04,and measured .517 in.

Ya you guys are are on the money. I think I just got allitle exciteted
The specs say 2300fps with 3000lb knock down. 11/2 groups at 100yrds. But I dont think It was smokeless powder test? If so what size charge are they using?I heard around 30 grains of smokeless.

I've been researching this rifle and the powder charges range from 41 - 46 grains, depending on the brand of powder being used.
