Recovered bullet
When I was skinning the buck I took last weekend I found the bullet hung up in the hide on the off side, this supprised me considering that it was only abouta 45 to50 yard shot. The load was two 50grain pyrodex pellets and a 240 grain tc mag express sabot, but then on looking at the deer it took a rib going in another coming out and went through the front off side shoulder the bullet had expanded to .740 mushroomed perfectly and still weighs 214 grains, at almost three quarters of an inch that bullet is pushing a lot of frontal area through the deer I thought it had passed through the deer as there was an exit hole but when skinningthere was the bullet cought in the hide I guess all in all the deer went down andis in the freezer. For my first muzzleloader deer I was real interested in the bullet preformance.

RE: Recovered bullet
excellent report on the 240 grain Thompson Center Mag Express XTP. It sounds like the bullet did exactly what it was designed to do. It hit, busted bones, and expanded as it moved through the body.
How far did this deer run after you made the shot? I must have missed or forgotten your details. I shoot that bullet out of one of my rifles, so this is a very interesting post.
thanks for the report!!
